Jerry Barker Chevrolet ET Racing Series - '08

Thanks to Thaxton Trucking Company for joining our Sponsorship Family this year and sponsoring the Super Pro Eliminator in the Jerry Barker Chevrolet ET Racing Series.  DeFoor Drywall and Acoustical Supply continues to support our program by sponsoring the Pro ET and Sportsman Eliminators as well as continuing to pay the DeFoor Drywall Bonus for a perfect reaction time matched with a dead-on run on a winning pass in Series Eliminations.  Thanks also Kroger for continuing to sponsor our Junior Dragster Eliminator in this series.

The Jerry Barker Chevrolet ET Racing Series will be conducted as it was last season with the top 12 points earners (who are NHRA members and hold permanent numbers) in Super Pro and Pro along with the top 10 in Sportsman eligible to represent us at the NHRA Summit ET Finals, this year to be conducted at Atlanta Dragway on October 9 and 10.  The High School Representative will be the highest finishing eligible driver (as determined by finishing order and not total points) in either of the three Eliminators and will become one of the members of the team in which he or she has earned points.  All racing in this series will be one-eighth mile except for Sportsman.  The NHRA Summit ET Finals will be conducted entirely on the one-eighth mile.

The Jerry Barker Chevrolet ET Racing Series begins with the first race for Summit points on March 1, and continues for 16 scheduled races through the '08 season.  Purses are guaranteed for all of these events.  Gold cards good for one entry in each of our '09 events will be earned by the Champions in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Junior Dragster eliminators.  The High School Representative will also earn a gold card good for one entry in each of our events during the '09 season.  Entry fees at the '07 NHRA Summit ET Finals will be paid for all qualifiers.  Champions in S/Pro, Pro, Sportsman and the High School Representative will compete for "King of the Track" honors which include the coveted "Wally" trophy.  Junior dragster participants will run in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Junior Dragster Challenge on September 27.

The points fund will again be guaranteed.  The top eight in Super Pro and Pro will receive the same amount they would have won for getting down to 8 cars in a 32 car+ event.  The top four Sportsman drivers get paid as if they had made it down to the semi's.  If the dial-in-for-dollars money goes beyond the guaranteed amount after paying ET Finals entries, the extra money will be paid to the top 20 finishers (8 in S/Pro, 8 in Pro and 4 in Sportsman).

Thirty points will be awarded for staging and ten points will be awarded for each round won.  Bonus points will be awarded with final round winners getting three, runners-up getting two and semifinalists getting one.  First-round buybacks will be allowed and buybacks will receive points for rounds won.  Rainouts WILL NOT be made up.  Points will be awarded and the purse split for any completed round of competition.  Incomplete rounds will not be counted.  Drivers will receive points for two less than the total number of events conducted.

NHRA permanent numbers or track assigned numbers will be required for your points to be kept.  Track assigned number holders will not be eligible to participate in the NHRA Summit ET Finals.  Permanent number forms can be obtained at the track or on line from www.nhra.com.  NHRA permanent numbers and membership in the NHRA will be required to participate in the Summit ET Finals.  Racing will be conducted in accordance with Silver Dollar Raceway's "Competition Policies and Procedures".  Allowable devices can be found from our "Race fees/Payouts" page.

Open Comp indexes will be determined by two rounds of qualifying prior to eliminations.  A minimum of one qualifying pass must be completed by each driver in order to establish a personal index.  Drivers’ personal indexes will be one tenth quicker than their fastest qualifying elapsed time.  The breakout rule will apply to personal indexes.

Open Comp is open to any year, make, and model door vehicles. Dragsters and roadsters prohibited.  Racing will be conducted on a Pro .500 tree, handicap start.  Nitrous Oxide will be allowed.
